COVID 19 Safety Measures

We value the safety & health of all of our patients. Here’s how we’re meeting community needs during the era of COVID-19

COVID-19 Office Procedures & Commitment to Patient Safety

In our practice, we aim to be supportive of informed consent, health sovereignty, and bodily agency, and therefore seek to create a safe space for all to rest & heal. Specific to COVID vaccination, we do then treat patients who are vaccinated, partially vaccinated, and unvaccinated.

As a community healthcare facility, Oak & Well Acupuncture does abide by the latest DOH health recommendations & procedures regarding COVID-19 best clinical practices. They include:

  • Mask wearing for all – patients & providers alike – while in all clinic spaces and during patient treatments (unless there is a health complication that prevents them from doing so or if you’re a wee one).
  • Perform temperature checks on patients upon entry
  • Pre-screening patients for symptoms of COVID – including shortness of breath, cough, fever, loss of smell/taste, etc. – and, if showing signs of COVID, asking them to please reschedule their appointments
  • Disinfecting all high touch surfaces & changing linens between patient visits (for both private treatment rooms & community spaces)
  • Staggering patient appointments to avoid overlapping people in common areas.
  • In each treatment area there is a HEPA-type air filtration system with UV-C light and ionizer purification (to remove airborne bacteria, viruses, and fungus & reduce particulate matter)
  • Washing hands before & after every patient to minimize viral transmission. Hand sanitizer is also used as needed and available in each treatment area for patients and practitioners.
  • For patients who are severely immuno-compromised or otherwise, they have the option to wait in their vehicle and text/call upon arrival. When their room/chair is ready, Sean will come out & walk them into their treatment area. (This helps reduce potential contact with other patients.)
  • All patient scheduling & payments can be made online to minimize potential contact time in the clinic space & reduce risk of COVID transmission
  • We offer low-cost herbal options for reducing stress, improving digestion, & enhancing immune functioning to better support sound physiological & metabolic health in our patient population
And other things too! We hope that gives you a sense of the measures we take in the clinic to create a safe space for folks.

Please note: Sean does routinely work with immune-compromised individuals and has done so throughout this pandemic. Safeguarding their health, while also providing much needed acupuncture & herbal medicine care, continues to be a priority for him.

We hope this has provided some reassurances and also, fully supportive if the nuance of it all feels prohibitive to some. We’re open to questions & conversations.
